Today we arose at an early hour (6:00 AM) and left Glacier National Park. Our next destination was Canada! When we arrived at the border, we were surprised by the extraordinarily low security! We drove up to a gate, were asked a few questions (basically, "Are you carrying anything dangerous?"), handed over our passports, and were quickly on our way. I never had to close the book in my hand! I love Canada!
After crossing, we drove 3 hours to Calgary (by the way, everything in Canada is in metric; the speed limit was 110 km/h: how fast were we going? [Answer in miles if you know]) where we went up into the Calgary Tower. The needle like structure is over 500 ft high and has an area at the top where the floor is glass (everyone but dad was brave enough to stand on it and look down; please give him a hard time for us).
After Calgary Tower, we headed to the Olympic Park where the 1988 Winter Olympics were held. Kendal and I were able to take a zip line from the top of the ski jump tower <video attached>. It was epic!
We then set out for Banff, an hour and ten minute drive, and are now established in our awesome, two room suite that will be our lodging until the end of our trip.

P.S. For all those at Truth Baptist: How did the Tomato Festival go? Any new visitors and/or converts?
Also, our Blog should be steady for the remainder of the expedition.
Hello everybody,
ReplyDeleteWould 110km be 65mph?
Logan & Kendal, Bravo - That had to be one heart stopping ride - probably better than anything at Kings Dominion! Loved the video. How did you do that?
Logan, I can't give your Dad a hard time because the way heights make me dizzy I wouldn't have been able to do it either. So glad the rest of you got to experience the awesome view.
Josh Combs has been in Canada on a Mission Trip for three weeks. He'll be there another month, but I don't know where he is. I'll try to remember to ask Brooke tomorrow as she'll be hanging out with me after we drop off Cyndee to begin her week with the Mt. Lebanon Youth at Liberty University. I think it's neat that Cory and Kayla will be going too. Brandon and David will probably be at my house as well, so Brandon can pick blackberries with me again.
Sounds like you have good accommodations, and I know it will be nice to stay in one place until the end of your most memorable vacation. I hate packing.
Stay safe and enjoy. Love to all, Grandma
Logan,
ReplyDeleteNice to hear from you.
100kph is 62 mph ... so 110kph must be around 68 mph.
Mr. Adams ... I am dissapointed to hear about you not walking on the glass floor. Tell me it ain't so.
Nice video of the zip line ride !
Must be you meals for the day were not worthy of talking about in your blog.
The Hanover Tomato Festival went well. The weather was quite nice, partly to mostly sunny with a high of only 88 dagrees and a slight breeze. Very comfortable. Record crowd (approx 40,000 visitors). Met, talked and invited many people to TBC. No one was saved at the festival that I know of, but many tracks and Romans pamphlets were handed out.
Enjoy your time in Canada, Eh.
Eh ( /ˈeɪ/ or /ˈɛ/) is a spoken interjection in English, It is commonly used as a method for inciting an answer, as in "It's nice here, eh?" In North America, it is most commonly associated with Canada.
Bring back a few Loonies as souveniers. They are only around a dollar each and easy to smuggle accross the boarder.
