Day 4

And so another day passes. Today we got an early start, checking out of our cabin at 8:15 and then hitting the Elephant Back Trail at around 8:30. Though in my opinion a tad more strenuous than yesterday (we are a couple hundred feet higher so there is even less oxygen in the air than before), the view was well worth it; with a stunning panoramic of Lake Yellowstone and the surrounding mountains.
After our hike we set out to see the Mud Volcano area, which contained one of our favorite features: Dragon’s Mouth (not due to the name, but due to the fact that it is a black cave that emits a low grumble, spews acrid steam, and boiling hot water flows out of it in ominous waves!). We then headed to see the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and the falls therein (as a matter of fact, we are driving along, touring and trying to pick up service for the blog post, and we just caught site of the magnificent feature! =D) At the Canyon we hiked along the river that feeds the Upper Falls, which was insanely flooded, toppling trees and damaging portions of the path in its wake!
By the time we were finished with our tramping, we (at least I was) were extraordinarily tired, so we went and checked into our room for the night. While mom and dad ‘rested’, I managed to do some spriting (for those of you wondering, Frontier will not be released until after the trip; sorry for any inconvenience) and Kendal did some reading and writing.
After a cup of coffee, we headed down to the Canyon Area visitor center, then to dinner (I had a delicious beef hot dog with chili and cheese, fries, milk, and chocolate ice cream for dessert). We also restocked our bread and got some gas for the car.
Currently we are driving around searching for wildlife, good views, and cellphone service. Hope you all are doing well!

RTC:
Mr. Pursel: Indeed, I love eating out! Haha, my mom was very angry at my dad for telling me to post that ‘exploring’ picture. Hey Michael! Did you guys do the brain jello for the church picnic today?

Grandma and Grandad: Glad he likes it! Mom is taking the majority of photos (Kendal has a camera and is taking pictures too, but they aren’t on the blog; she will probably show them to you some time after we return), but both dad and I have taken a few. The Lord has indeed surprised us, and we have certainly seen His handiwork displayed here!

~Note~ To all those who wish to comment, but for some reason or another cannot, you can email me at theloganadams@gmail.com (it all goes there anyway, but please try to comment on the blog if at all possible). We would love to hear from you too! ^_^

  1. Logan,

We did not do the jello brain mold for the TBC picnic. We were going to, but at the last minute changed our minds since Mrs. Pursel had already planned on the small crock pot potatoes swimming in butter. They were tasty. We missed the entire Adams family at TBC today.

Is that SNOW on the trail for tomorrow? It sure looks like snow.

The picture from behind Kendal makes the Yellowstown River look ominus. I think you should suggest to your Dad a rafting trip. I'm sure your Mom would love it.

I meant to say this in my last comment, but why are you all not wearing matching outfits for these pictures? I don't think I have ever seen Adams family pictures where your don't match. Maybe the problem is with my computer monitor.

BTW, Michael played the national anthem at church today.

Get a good night sleep and have a great Monday.

  3. Logan,

Great posts - I've read them all! Sounds like a good time with some gourmet eating. I don't ever want to hear how you don't eat much again:)

  4. Logan,
Well here goes again. We enjoy reading your daily blogs and the pictures. Is that snow in the picture of "the trailhead for next days hike? MeMa wishes she could be with you to enjoy the sights of yellowstone again. When are you going to try a "buffalo burger"? We had a great patriotic service at church Sunday.

  5. Logan,
Now that I found out to communicate with you MeMa wants you to know that she would love to be sitting, (she is not into hiking), on the porch at The Lake and enjoying the great views. We enjoyed the “child’s” portion meal at the cafeteria and it was more than enough. Glad to see that you are enjoying the food (you may gain a lb. or 2 if you don’t watch out. Keep up the good work. MeMa say to tell “Miss” Kendal she said Hi!

  6. Happy July 4th Stephen, Teri, Logan & Kendal,
Are you thinking about the homemade ice cream as we have been? Maybe not, as it looks like you are hiking in the snow?!
I had an interesting walk yesterday afternoon. It was hot, humid, bright & sunny when I started. I was sitting in the gazebo (mile and 1/4 down the road) at "Our Father's House" enjoying the music wafting down the lawn ("I'm Proud to Be An American") when I realized the sky had turned very dark and the wind was bending the trees. Needless to say that was probably the fastest I've ever done the return mile!! I was almost to the Smith's at the bridge when their daughter backed out of the driveway, pulled up beside me and said, "I'm taking you home because I don't think you can out walk this one!" Nice to have concerned neighbors. I would probably have been home in time to beat the rain, but I was very thankful for God's provision to get me out of the lightening's path. Granddad and I sat on the porch enjoying the welcomed coolness until the rain started in earnest(got over 3/10 of inch). So nice for the garden - no ripe tomatoes for the 4th but at least one cucumber. Guess I had better get to my jam and cobbler because Lori & family will be coming for dinner after she comes in from work and before they go to the fireworks (sure miss you guys). I'm so glad you're doing the blog because I haven't heard from Brooke in over a week (since I don't test), so I'm looking forward to hearing her experiences from the Youth Trip to Nashville.
STAY SAFE AND LOVE TO ALL, GRANDMA
